Petit à Petit Hermès
Two exclusive editorial collaborations with Hermès petit h & Life Magazine China, directed across concept, exclusive interviews, print design, and brand narrative.
The first, published in 2015, marked petit h's debut in mainland China at Maison Hermès Shanghai. At the time, petit h was entirely unknown to Chinese readers — a deliberately elusive atelier with no fixed store, no conventional product logic, and no easy explanation. The solution was illustration: working with artist Jun Cen, I translated the workshop's philosophy — the craftsmen, the process of reinvention, the sense of quiet enchantment — into a visual language that photography alone could not carry. The 16-page feature traced the story through founder Pascale Mussard, from her childhood in the Hermès ateliers to a workshop devoted to the second life of discarded materials.
The second, published in July 2019, accompanied petit h's first Chengdu exhibition, designed by Neri & Hu around "creation in reverse." I conceived the cover as an interactive object — readers cut along printed lines to reveal a hidden image beneath, mirroring petit h's ethos of transformation and concealed possibility. The issue included an exclusive interview with incoming creative director Godefroy de Virieu.
